Our Format

We learn by building, in the open.

Sri Lankan developers don't need another lecture. They need to watch real problems get solved in real time — including the dead ends. So our sessions are live builds, not slide decks.

Hatch — our flagship

One idea, built live, from pick to ship.

Phase 1 — Pick

  • A tuk-tuk fare splitter
  • A Sinhala–English flashcard app
  • A power-cut schedule notifier
  • A wedding RSVP bot
  • A live cricket score widget

The room proposes real problems and votes. One idea wins.

Phase 2 — Build

hatch — building live

Phase 3 — Ship or Break

Building
live, unscripted…the last line is still resolving

The last line resolves. Did it ship, or did it break? Either way, we learned something real.

Why unscripted?

A rehearsed demo hides the part that actually teaches you something: the moment the build goes sideways and someone has to think their way out of it.

At a Hatch session, the developer hasn't seen the problem before they walk in. You watch them prompt, get it wrong, re-prompt, and recover — which is exactly what building with Claude Code looks like on a normal Tuesday.

Honesty over polish. That's the whole format.

A real session, in one block

hatch — session log
$ claude-code "build a tuk-tuk fare splitter"
> Reading the room — 12 votes. Building the fare splitter.
> Scaffolding Next.js + a shared-trip model...
> Wrong turn: tried localStorage, moved to a shared link.
> npx supabase gen types typescript ... done.
> Deploying to the edge...

Pathfind

The on-ramp for first-timers.

A short lesson on one Claude Code capability, then the whole room builds the same small thing together — with help on hand. Lower stakes, same momentum.

Showcase

Show what you built.

Members present what they shipped that week — short, honest, audience Q&A after. It runs as a recurring event type rather than a separate pillar.
